Wedding & Portrait Photography

You know what I love about my clients? None of these shots are posed. I rarely say “Can you look that way?” Or “Can you put your hand here, then turn around, and do the hula”…Of course everyone does a few posed shots but my favorite always end up being the ones that happened in the moment. Playing around, laughing, giving each other googly eyes. I love the emotion that just blossoms from a shoot where two people love each other a whole lot and I’m just there to have fun and capture it all. I sound like a dorky high school student, but that’s really, honestly, hand on heart true. It’s so damn fun!

Desaray was dying for a shoe shot.  I love her red toe nail polish. Oh BTW, I could only cut it down to 35 pictures.

Old Town has so many fun things to offer for an engagement shoot and we tried to use it all. After 4 hours, eating ice cream, getting rained on, trying to get the wig shop to let us try wigs on, and going to a candy shop, we got some killer stuff. Lauren and Desaray probably got their ears talked off by me because with some people you just fall into that ‘this is so much fun and I feel so comfy’ mindset, you share things like you were old friends. That’s what I felt during our shoot- and we kept sharing/talking/laughing so much the day flew by.

Natalie and I were looking over all the images to pick which ones would go up in this post…it was darn hard! I honestly give most clients 15 images from their shoot but I’m going to have a horrid time slimming it down to that many. Maybe I can do 25. I’ll post more picks this weekend.

And don’t worry Desaray, while we were going through the images Nat was like “I think there is a perfect balance of images showcasing Lauren and Desaray.” I sighed in relief. I really wanted to make sure that happened and it did. I’m so sick of photographers focusing on what they think is the more ‘girly’ of the two people in a couple and completely ignoring the other person. The other person is h-o-t and matters too. Gendered poses don’t have to be the norm- you only let them be.

I’m not sure how I’m going to blog about Ying and Pat. Why? Because I HEART their wedding so much I’m a little overwhelmed by the amount of pictures I want to post. They had kraft paper boxes wrapped up with *wait for it* red and white twine. I have two bolts of this red and white twine in my studio that I hardly ever touch because I love it that much. So to see it at a wedding? Oh boy.

So get ready for some great posts.

And for you Buckeye fans…
